The Reach of Mathematics Talk 2: Biology

In our second talk, Professor Robert Insall explored how mathematical modelling and biology come together to understand chemotaxis – the way cells sense and move through chemical gradients. Focusing on self-generated gradients, the talk highlighted surprising, emergent behaviours that modelling helps to explain. It was a powerful reminder of how collaboration between disciplines can unlock discoveries beyond the reach of experiments alone.
